Privacy Policy for SocialWebtools.com and the Social Budgie Chrome Extension

Last Updated: 6th May 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how SocialWebtools.com (“we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses information when you visit our website (socialwebtools.com), interact with our services, and use the Social Budgie Chrome Extension (“the Extension”).

By accessing or using our website or the Extension, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few ways:

  • Information You Provide Directly:
    • Account Information: When you register for an account on SocialWebtools.com, we collect your email address and potentially other information you provide during registration or in your profile (e.g., name).
    • Purchase Information: When you make a purchase (such as API access or points for the Extension), you will provide billing and payment information. We do not store your full payment card details. Payment processing is handled securely by our third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and may store limited transaction details (e.g., transaction ID, amount, date, type of product purchased) for accounting and service provision purposes.
    • Communication: If you contact us directly (e.g., via email, support forms), we will collect the content of your communication and contact information you provide.
  • Information Collected Automatically:
    • Website Usage Data: When you visit SocialWebtools.com, we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our website. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, clickstream data, and referring source pages. This data is collected through server logs and third-party analytics services like Google Analytics (GA4).
    • Backend Interaction Data: When you use the Social Budgie Extension, it communicates with our backend service at https://socialwebtools.com/* via an API key. Our backend logs and processes information related to these API calls, which may include your API key (used for authentication), the type of action requested by the Extension (e.g., generating a reply, suggesting topics, checking balance), the parameters sent for AI processing (e.g., text you copied on Facebook, post topic, style preferences), and timestamps of the requests. This data is necessary to provide the core functionality of the Extension and manage your point balance.
    • Extension Usage Data (Limited): We may collect limited, aggregated, and anonymized data about how the Extension is used (e.g., number of times the AI was invoked, features used) to understand usage patterns and improve the service. This data does not personally identify you or include the specific content you processed with the AI. (Note: Chrome Web Store may also provide aggregated installation and usage statistics, which are governed by their policies.)
  • Information from Third Parties:
    • Payment Processors: We receive transaction confirmation and limited information about your purchase from our payment processor, Stripe.com, to confirm successful payments and manage your access to services.
    • Analytics Providers: We receive aggregated and anonymized data from Google Analytics (GA4) about website usage patterns. Google Search Console provides data about how users find our site via Google Search.

Important Note Regarding Extension Settings:
The Social Budgie Chrome Extension allows you to enter settings such as your AI persona details (business name, description, tone) and your API key. This information is stored locally within your browser’s extension storage and is not automatically collected or transmitted to SocialWebtools.com by the Extension itself, except when sent as necessary parameters in API calls for AI generation or authentication.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Operate Our Services: This includes authenticating your access to the Social Budgie backend via your API key, processing your requests to generate AI content, managing your point balance, and enabling the core functions of the Social Budgie Extension.
  • To Process Transactions: To process your purchases of API access or points and manage your subscription or access levels.
  • To Improve and Optimize Our Services: To understand how our website and the Extension are used (via analytics), troubleshoot issues, conduct research and development, and improve the quality and features of Social Budgie and other SocialWebtools services. Data sent for AI processing may be used for debugging or improving the AI service itself, subject to the privacy policies of our AI provider.
  • To Communicate With You: To respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, send you service updates, transactional emails related to your account or purchases, and, if you have opted in, send you marketing or promotional communications.
  • For Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect our website, the Extension, our backend service, and our users from fraudulent activity, unauthorized access, and other security threats.
  • For Compliance and Legal Purposes: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and governmental requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with third parties in the following circumstances:

  • With Service Providers: We share information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe.com), website analytics (Google Analytics), hosting providers (Namecheap.com), and AI model providers (OpenAI.com). These service providers are given access to your information only to the extent necessary to perform their functions and are obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of your information.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights or property, prevent fraud or other illegal activity, or protect the personal safety of our users or the public.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so.
  • Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Important Note on AI Processing Data:
Information you input into the Extension for AI generation (e.g., text you copy, topics, styles, persona details sent in the API request) is transmitted to our backend and then to our AI model provider (OpenAI https://openai.com/policies/business-terms/) for processing. Please review the privacy policy of our AI provider for details on how they handle the data they receive:

Important Note on Payment Information:
We use a third-party payment processor, Stripe.com, to handle all payment transactions. Your payment card details and other sensitive billing information are provided directly to Stripe and are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
